personnel
discovered
newly
formed
cracks
in the
asphalt
pavement
crossing
the Lake
Beckwith
Dam
crest on
Tuesday,
November
15,
2011.
Both the
District's
Dam
Engineer,
RJH
Consultants,
Inc.,
and Dam
Safety
Engineers
from the
Colorado
State
Engineer's
office
have
reviewed
the
conditions
at the
dam and
have
determined
there is
no
immediate
safety
concern
related
to the
formation
of the
cracks.
Further
geotechnical
investigation
and
evaluation
will be
required
to
assess
the
overall
condition
and
safety
of the
dam. The
District
has
retained
RJH to
perform
these
services.
In the
interim,
District
personnel
will be
performing
more
frequent
embankment
inspections
and
instrumentation
monitoring
to check
for
changing
conditions
at the
dam. |
